Top Visited Museums in The World

Jul 24

Travelers have different motives when visiting a new location. Some go to enjoy the beach, others want to go shopping and some go to visit museums. Cultural holidays are growing in popularity.

Culture is a broad category that includes visiting historic sites, attending cultural events or simply visiting museums. Vacationers will choose their holiday destinations according to their own interests. Most of the top visited museums in the world are located in large urban cultural cities such as Paris, London or New York.  Statistics from 2007 rank the most visited worldwide museums:

1.    Le Musée du Louvre (Paris, France): 8.3 million visitors

2.    The British Museum (London, England) : 5.5 million visitors

3.    The Tate Gallery (London, England ): 5 million visitors

4.    The Metropolitan (New York, USA): 4.2 million visitors

5.    The Vatican Museum (Vatican City, Italy): 4.4 million visitors

6.    The National Gallery (London, England): 4.1 million visitors

7.    Le Château de Versailles (Versailles, France): 3.4 million visitors

8.    Le Musée d’Orsay (Paris, France): 3.1 million visitors

9.    The Tokyo National Museum (Tokyo, Japan): 3.2 million visitors

10.    The Prado Museum (Madrid, Spain): 2.7 million visitors

paris-vacation-rentals-451
Three of the most visited museums are in Paris (click to see more on the most popular Paris Museums) and three are in London. Those popular cities are the most visited in the world and, therefore, lodging is not cheap; in fact, it is outrageously expensive.

Unless you have a generous budget for your stay, you should look into more affordable accommodation options such as a vacation rental. Holiday rental properties are probably the most comfortable lodging solutions for travelers on budgets in Paris, London, New York, Rome, Tokyo or Madrid (Madrid vacation rentals)

Quality hotels in those cities can cost anywhere from $400 to $1200 per night. Alternatively, visitors may rent a vacation rental condo in London, a holiday rental apartment in Paris, short term holiday rental apartment in New York or a vacation rental villa in Rome for a fraction of the price.

Traveling should be relaxing instead of stressful. According to the U.S. Department of Transportation, there are over 250,000 mishandled or lost luggage in the U.S. every month. Help reduce the risk of ruining a trip due to lost luggage with these travel tips by using globalbagtag.com. Globalbagtag are stainless steel 60mm x 30 mm tags that are fastened with high strength security to your bag.global-bagtag-logo

Each tag has a serial number that will trace the lost luggage back to its owner via the globalbagtag.com website. Members are registered to their tag and the globalbagtag system has all of the members contact information. Travelers may add information to their account such as descriptions of their luggage or their travel itinerary. The minute your lost luggage is located, you will be notified by email, phone or text message. A pack of globalbagtags, which includes two tags and a one-year database membership, costs about $18.95.

Registration for the tag is free and each year after the first year, membership renewal is about $8. Globalbagtags are better according to travel tips than a traditional tag with your home address because you may not want your lost luggage forwarded to your home if you are not there. Globalbagtag can forward your lost luggage to a destination according to your itinerary.

Tags: , , , , , , , , , ,

Siesta Key is 35 square miles of a variety of different kinds of beaches. For example, couples and families can enjoy the quieter beaches while young adults can enjoy a party beach. The beaches are covered in jelly-soft sand and surrounded by extraordinary Gulf and bay views. Siesta Key is low key yet high-energy and elegant yet laid back. The tree-lined residential streets run along old and new condos, mansions and cottages. There are three different beaches in Siesta Key. The public beach, the largest of all three, offers skimboarding, volleyball, concession stands, lifeguards and more. On Sundays, locals gather on the beach for sunset to watch drummers, hula hoopers and belly dancers. Siesta Key Village, just a block away from the Beach Palms beachfront bungalows, has a high-energy atmosphere. Here you can sit outside of cafes among the colorful architecture and live entertainment. Crescent Beach is the more private beach. Enjoy Sarasota’s best snorkeling around the coral and slabs at Point of Rocks. Make sure to stroll along Turtle Beach and search for sharks’ teeth.

In the 1920s storms divided Captiva Island and separated what is now known as North Captiva Island. North Captiva Island is a four-mile crescent of the coast of southwest Florida. The island has a private, exclusive feel. Vacationers came with a week’s worth of groceries and disappear into their North Captiva Island beach house rentals. The public beach has families and honeymooners but in Cayo Costa State Park, the beach is all yours. You will see gopher tortoises burrowing into the sand and dolphins playing close to the shore. One of the unique beauties of North Captiva Island is that there are no hotels. Rent North Captiva Island beach house rentals or North Captiva Island Florida vacation rentals.

Futuro House - Florida holiday homes

May 13

Futuro House at 1304 Panferio Drive in Pensacola Beach resembles what was once considered futuristic architecture. Locals know the house as the “UFO house.” The house resembles a regular structure with a UFO-looking craft that landed on the roof. Finnish pop architect Matti Suuronen designed this private residence in the late 1960s using plastic and fiberglass. Reports on the number of these that were built, range from 20 to 100. The UFO house even has an airplane-hatch entrance. It is plenty sturdy, too. Since its construction in the late 1960s, the UFO house has toughed-out several storms and hurricanes.

If you happen to be visiting the area, pass by to get a glimpse of this must-see sight. Also, take a look at the Florida vacation apartments or Florida holiday homes in the area.

Very rare ghostly white alligators are on display at Gatorland Orlando. Do not mistake these white alligators for the more common pink-eyed albino alligators. These, called leucistic alligators, have steel blue eyes and it is believed that only a dozen of the 5 million alligators in the US are born and live this way. Their pigments are actually a result of a genetic defect but it is said that those who can make eye contact with leucistic alligators can expect good fortune.

The four leucistic alligator brothers will be on display in the White Gator Swap section of Gatorland Orlando through Labor Day. Find nearby, affordable Orlando vacation rentals or Orlando vacation homes.

Admission:
Ages 13 +: $22.99
Ages 2 – 13: $14.99

For more information, call 407-855-5496 or 800-393-5297. You can also visit www.gatorland.com
