Los Angeles Vacations: LA’s “New” Highland Park

If you plan on hitting the west coast for a coastal tour or especially if you are spending any time in one of LA’s vacation rentals, spend a day cruising around Highland Park. Not too long ago this area was teaming with dollar stores and auto shops, but in recent years it has undergone a makeover and has become a new popular district filled with rich culture. Today this district is busy with a trendy crowd occupying the bars, restaurants, boutiques and even apartments.

The area has really cleaned up its act and its streets to become a positive addition to both the locals and visitors of LA’s accommodations. The area has been known for a few reasons before the renovation. It was the location of Quenton Tarantino’s “Reservoir Dogs”, it was the first town to be annexed by Los Angeles, and also has been famed for its old Victorian style homes which have become quite desirable in recent years. With a lively nightlife scene and a busy lunch and happy hour, there really isn’t a bad time to check out Highland Park during your west coast vacation.

Beach Rentals & Blue Crabs

It’s that time of the year again, when families flock to the eastern seaboard for their annual beach vacation. From Maine to Florida, summer beach rentals are an American pastime which most families will try their hardest to avoid having to give up no matter how bad the economy gets. From lugging all the chairs, towels, umbrellas, shovels and coolers to the beach, to rubbing aloe on a crisp tan, everything about that vacation is priceless.

My favorite part of every summer my family spent at the Jersey shore in our vacation rental was always sitting out on the back porch with a table piled high with Blue Crabs. We would spend hours sitting around the table eating crabs and telling stories. When all was said and done, we would usually head to the boardwalk for a nice walk and to enjoy the scenery. Though the crabs are still available, getting the whole family around a table at the beach is proving to be a more difficult task as the years go by. This is what truly makes those summers at the beach a memory to cherish.

Hospitality &Tourism Industry Discounts for Orlando Vacations

Orlando, Florida is the home of numerous theme parks and attractions such as Disney World, Sea World, MGM Studios and Universal Studios which help to keep the destination a favorite vacation spot on both the national and international levels. So with all these attractions, restaurants, a major airport and Orlando vacation rentals, it is no wonder the city is so familiar with the dedication it takes from industry employees to maintain  a consistent level of service.

Because of this, much of the Orlando/Orange County tourism industry has teamed up to show its appreciation by offering “Hospitality Appreciation Days” from September 1-November 15, 2009. These days will feature special offers from over 115 stores, attractions, restaurants and Orlando vacation rentals.

Industry employees will be recognized by various forms of ID to receive industry rates. These forms of ID include employee ID, business card with valid ID and/or check stub. Those who take advantage of these offers can also take advantage of the “Orlando Magical Dining Month” at over 50 area restaurants who will be serving 3 course prix-fixe dinners for $20-$30.

Costs of Hawaii Vacation Rentals Fall

Jul 07

Posted: under Destinations and Places, Hawaii, Lodging and Hotel News, United States.
Tags: , , ,

Hawaii has found itself desperate for more tourists to visit the beautiful islands. The rise in airfares and the absence of one key cruise ship has really hurt the tourism industry. The number of arrivals has dropped 6.4 percent (549,017 people) and expenditures are down $26.7 million.

As a result, the cost of Hawaii vacation rentals has decreased to try and jumpstart the industry again. The idea is that if the Hawaii vacation rentals costs are low enough, the average tourist will overlook the above average ticket costs because they cancel each other out to the same total amount they would have spent if tickets were less and the rentals were higher. Ideally this makes sense, but the tourist has to make it past the online ticketing websites to see the cost of the accommodations.

The average tourist looking for a holiday destination will search for flight costs before accommodation costs. Unless Hawaii vacation rentals makes the public

aware of the decrease in cost, the intended effect of the reduction will not be felt.

When a Vacation Villa is the Best Choice

Vacation villas, Holiday homes

Renting vacation villas has become a new trend in the hospitality industry all over the world. The introduction of internet was instrumental in the development of this new industry. Renting holiday homes offers plenty of benefits from added comfort, space, affordability and the possibility of a large group spending their vacation under the same roof. Vacationers with special needs, young kids or special eating preferences appreciate spending their vacation in vacation villas. Families with young kids prefer to stay in holiday homes as it is simply more practical.

Feeling at home in a nice vacation villa is a unique experience. If you are traveling with a large group, staying at a hotel can get very pricey. Renting 4 rooms in a nice hotel can run from $300 to $1,000 per night/per room. The math is compelling in favor of vacation villas. The full-size kitchen found in holiday homes helps to keep your vacation budget under control. Restaurants can be quite expensive, especially when you eat out for breakfast, lunch and dinner with about 12 people. If you are traveling in a moderate to large size group, vacation villas are the way to go.

Choosing Between Vacation Villas and Vacation Apartments

Vacation villas, Vacation apartments

The best choice between vacation villas and vacation apartments depends on many different factors including where the vacationer wants to go. Seaside resorts and countryside resorts may offer an equal amount of vacation apartments and vacation villas whereas urban areas are mainly made up of vacation apartments. Finding vacation villas in Paris, London or New York is possible but quite difficult. When you do find them, they are usually far from the center or quite expensive.

People traveling in larger groups usually prefer to stay in vacation villas while smaller groups are perfectly comfortable in vacation apartments. Budget is another factor to consider. Vacation villas tend to be more expensive than vacation apartments. Vacation apartments vary in size from a simple studio to a 3 bedroom apartment. Vacation villas tend to be larger with a minimum of 2 bedrooms ranging all the way up to 6 bedrooms. Vacation apartments rarely have more than 3 bedrooms and are therefore not suitable for larger groups of vacationers.

Miami hotel costs, Miami vacation rental costs

More and more travelers are monitoring their expenses. Those who still allow themselves to enjoy holidays would like to save as much money as possible. One thing you can do to significantly reduce your vacation’s total cost is to make the right choice between a hotel and a vacation rental. Consider more than just the unit price per night. For example, you may find some Miami vacation rentals for the same price as a Miami hotel room. Consider, though, that Miami vacation rental costs offer more space than Miami hotel costs. Miami vacation rental costs also include a fully-equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own meals instead of eating out for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Miami Beach has many delicious restaurants but most do not meet budget standards. Consider whether or not your Miami hotel costs or Miami vacation rental costs includes a parking lot where you may leave your car for free. Otherwise you will have to pay a garage fee, valet fee or days worth of parking meters. Some Miami hotel costs include free internet access while others may charge an average rate of $10 for internet. See below for a detailed comparison between Miami hotel costs and Miami vacation rental costs.

Comparing Vacation Rentals and Hotels in Miami Beach

Historic Miami Beach hotels, Miami Beach vacation rentals

We based our comparison of Miami Beach vacation rentals and hotels in Miami Beach on units of the same price. Your typical small South Beach hotel is normally located on Collins Avenue or on Ocean Drive. Collins and Ocean Drive are the busiest streets in Miami Beach. They are not the most tranquil by definition, specifically during the weekend when traffic tends to get heavy. Historic Miami Beach hotels are mostly 2-story buildings with small lobbies and an average of 20 to 30 rooms. Each of the historic Miami Beach hotels stands against the next, blocking views and are sometimes a bit suffocating, especially with such small rooms. The average room in the historic Miami Beach hotels is around 150 square feet. The advantage is that historic Miami Beach hotels are right in the middle of the action and half a block from the beach. Small historic Miami Beach hotels do not usually provide any amenities, restaurants, pools or beach chairs.

letoile

We analyzed a 1 bedroom Miami Beach vacation rentals apartment in the L’ Etoile building. L’ Etoile is a 4-unit Miami Beach vacation rentals building surrounded by tropical landscaping and located on a quiet street. It was originally a villa but is now fully updated and offers parking as well as a wonderful pool. L’ Etoile is within 2 minutes walking distance from Lincoln Road and 6 minutes to the beach. Miamihabitat.com, the management company, will lend you bicycles to facilitate getting around the Art Deco District. The 500 square foot Miami Beach vacation rentals apartment is fully equipped and furnished with everything you need including a full kitchen and a convertible sofa in the living room to accommodate 2 extra people.
You can stay in a hotel or an apartment for the same price. We know both kinds very well and we believe that Miami Beach vacation rentals bring superior value. Analyzing the reviews of historic Miami Beach hotels on the new Travelpost website, we see we are not the only ones. People are rather unhappy with historic Miami Beach hotels and rate them an average of 2.04 out of 5 (see report).
