According to travel research firm, PhoCusWright, the online European travel industry is expected to strengthen this year. In their latest report, the firm predicts that online travel agencies bookings will reach 0.6 percent this year. However, general European travel market is expected to decrease 10 percent in 2009.
Carol Rheem, a director at PhoCusWright, says that more and more Europeans arranging their beloved time off this year are using online travel agencies to plan their budget holiday. She says that “online travel agencies are weathering this economic storm better than any other booking” medium.
Though anything can change by the end of the year, the online European travel industry is expected to have gross bookings of €23 billion at the end of 2009.
