The blues scene in Chicago is very active and very rich. The musicians are many and talented. The city may be regarded as the world capital of the blues and for a fan of blues to go here is like a pilgrimage to Mecca.

So most go to Buddy Guy’s Legend as it is the most famous and listed in the guides. It is very well located near the Loop, the city center where the Majority of hotels are situated. Chicago has a multitude of blues clubs. Le blues festival held in Chicago in early June at Grant Park, between the Loop and Lake Michigan. It was created in 1983, the year of death of Muddy Waters. The event is now attracting considerable course the most famous bluesmen (Chicago and elsewhere) but also an ever increasing number. As in other major festivals (New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, King Biscuit Festival in Helena), it takes place simultaneously on several stages. The official program of the festival ends relatively early to go later in the many bars in the city where the entrance is FREE!

The Gospel Music Festival, created a year after the Blues Festival takes place a week before it. The Jazz Festival is held annually in late August early September and the Country Music Festival in early July.
