By 1939, the fruits of his vision, the now famous Mont Trenblant Lodge, was officially inaugurated and on its path to success. Another fanatic of the region’s beauty, American broadcaster Lowel Thomas, helped fuel the resort’s success by making it a place where he would broadcast many of his shows.
The biggest break came in 1991 when the ski resort was purchased by Intrawest, a large real estate group, which invested hundreds of millions of dollars to create the gem that is Mont Tremblant. He made it become a place where luxury Mont Tremblant chalets would surround the resort.
Some of the changes included building the pedestrian village, adding new ski lifts and slopes, and rebuilding the Grand Manitou summit lodge. The success was immediate and Mont Tremblant became overnight a major ski resort destination in North America.
