Costs of Hawaii Vacation Rentals Fall

Hawaii has found itself desperate for more tourists to visit the beautiful islands. The rise in airfares and the absence of one key cruise ship has really hurt the tourism industry. The number of arrivals has dropped 6.4 percent (549,017 people) and expenditures are down $26.7 million.

As a result, the cost of Hawaii vacation rentals has decreased to try and jumpstart the industry again. The idea is that if the Hawaii vacation rentals costs are low enough, the average tourist will overlook the above average ticket costs because they cancel each other out to the same total amount they would have spent if tickets were less and the rentals were higher. Ideally this makes sense, but the tourist has to make it past the online ticketing websites to see the cost of the accommodations.

The average tourist looking for a holiday destination will search for flight costs before accommodation costs. Unless Hawaii vacation rentals makes the public

aware of the decrease in cost, the intended effect of the reduction will not be felt.
