Description:
This lovingly detailed 3-bedroom 3-bath beachfront home
in Manuel Antonio has an oversized infinity pool
adorned by 3 Easter Island Moai statues. Your front
door is Espadilla Beach where you can stroll to Manuel
Antonio National Park, restaurants and shopping, all
within 5-10 minutes walking distance. The extra large
Jacuzzi fits up to 10 people but its most attractive
feature is the red-backed squirrel monkeys that often
come to nest in the adjacent palm tree at dusk.
The owners of the Discovery House are primate
photographers and conservationists. The eclectic decor
reflects their world travels and experiences working
with primatologists such as gorilla researcher Dr. Dian
Fossey and orangutan authority Dr. Birute Galdikas.
This one-of-a-kind home is decorated with hand-painted
sinks and art tile reproductions of their photos of
apes and monkeys. Delightful surprises are found around
every corner.
Unlike cold-built-to-rent vacation houses, the
Discovery House is filled with warmth and coziness
featuring 3 window seats where you can curl up with
a good book, take a decadent afternoon nap or watch
monkey acrobats swing through the trees. The
professional Mexican-style kitchen was inspired by
artist Frida Kahlo's own kitchen in Coyoacan, Mexico
with art tile reproductions of her paintings. There are
no overhead cables to obstruct your views. Recycling,
a water treatment plant, and enrichment of the monkey
corridor with the planting of 60 fruit trees reflect
the owners' dedication to preserving this Manuel
Antonio jewel and its endangered primates.
This is a once in a lifetime experience. Or perhaps
like many others, you may be inspired to return to the
Discovery House again and again.
