It's a short drive to New Orleans and the gulf coast. Scenic byways, swamp tours, antique shopping, festivals, trails, parks, birding, campgroumds, boating, and fishing are nearby. There is also a wildlife refuge and vineyards to visit.

The house consists of 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and a dining-sitting area. All rooms are large and roomy. There are 2 baths. A large porch across the front of the house invites you to sit on the two swings and relax with a drink. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and a private bath. A second bedroom has a double bed and a baby bed. A stroller is also available. A third bedroom has two double beds. There is a sofa in the living room to accomodate additional sleeping. The back yard is extra-large, completely fenced, and is great for a bar-b-que and just plain bird watching.
