Standards for security deposits vary from owner to owner. Some holiday rentals owners may not require a security deposit at all. Before booking your vacation rentals, call the agency, owner or manager and ask questions regarding security deposits. If applicable, the holiday rentals contract must state the receipt or requirement of a security deposit as well as the policy regarding refunding the security deposit. If a security deposit is due upon arrival, the expectation is that it will be paid in cash, local currency or traveler’s check.

 

When you are ready to check out of the vacation rentals, the owner or their representative should check you out of the holiday rentals property, and assuming there is no damage, refund your security deposit on the spot or within 2 weeks.
